- Construction of the temple began around 2055 BC, during the reign of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, and continued over several centuries, with contributions added by various pharaohs, including Tutankhamun, Ramses II, and others .
- The temple was dedicated to the main trinity of Egyptian gods: Amon-Ra, Mut and Khonsu. – Karnak consists of a vast complex of temples, obelisks, courtyards and halls.
